작품 해설
비발디의 ‘사계’에서 얻은 아이디어 조각들을 바탕으로 작곡한 이 음악은 각각의 부제를 가진 4개의 악장으로 구성되어 있다. 곡을 구상하는 동안 끊임없이 반복되는 계절의 순환과 변덕스러운 날씨의 수많은 장면들 중 무엇을 그리고 어떻게 표현할 것인지 고민했다.
각 악장은 변화하는 계절 속에서 떠올려낸 어느 하루, 어느 순간의 사적인 감정과 기억들을 담고 있는데, 순환하는 자연, 계절과 계절 사이에 나타나는 기상 변화들을 리듬, 음색의 반복과 변형, 갑작스럽게 등장하는 다양한 음악적 삽입구들을 통해 은유적으로 드러냈다.
1-3악장은 각 악기가 선율을 주고 받으며 만들어내는 조화를 통해 곡을 구성했으며, 마지막 악장은 독주와 합주가 되풀이되는 리토르넬로 형식을 활용하여 구성했다.
