작품 소개
블록으로 만드는 음악 <BRICK MUSIC>는 ‘음악을 조형예술처럼 눈으로 볼 수 있도록 만들어 보면 어떨까’라는 의문에서 시작한다.
음악을 시각적으로 표현하기 위해 선율, 리듬, 화성 등의 음악 요소를 다양한 블록 조각에 대입해 보면서, 새로운 뮤직 노테이션을 개발하고, 이를 통해 음악을 보고, 만지고 들을 수 있도록 시도했다.
무엇보다 블록 조각을 쌓아가는 과정을 통해 예술을 놀이처럼 즐기면서 자신만의 창작물을 만들어 볼 수 있고, 어떻게 쌓아도 음악이 되고 미술작품이 되는 복합 예술적 시도이다.
Brick Music을 위해 작곡한 앙상블을 위한 <Garmer's daily routine>은 처음 등장하는 12개의 음을 규칙적으로 반복하고, 차례로 악기가 추가되고 음들이 조금씩 변화하면서 흥미롭고 새로운 소리를 들려준다. 반복되는 일상에 작은 변화를 더함으로써 작지만 소중한 행복을 즐기고 싶은 마음을 담았다.
